I compromise in f/c section,drill approx 1/3rd way through the foot surface of shoe with 5/16th drill at home and then use a punch in the usual way on site if you need them.Might sound long winded but it works for me- anything to save wear and tear on my joints.I always use a good quality spiral tap...
