Postby PNB » Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:56 am

The horses mouth has just been sent a copy of the letter sent from the colleges. Has any body had a prior knowledge of this compulsory obligation and threat of removal of ATF/Emolper status. The informant an employer states not.

Dear Approved Training Farrier,

We are writing with information about the forthcoming mandatory training for Approved Training Farriers (ATFs). This year the colleges are collaborating to deliver online training, with ATFs being able to log on to complete their training from home.

ATFs will be required to complete the following three online training modules which will be logged online and confirmation of certification provided on completion must be sent to the appropriate college:

· Safeguarding
· Equality and Diversity
· Prevent

We would like to take this opportunity to remind ATFs of the following clauses in the Farriers Registration Council’s regulations and in respective college training agreements.

· Colleges will be providing compulsory annual educational training courses for all ATFs which will count towards the CPD points requirement.

· Failure to comply with the requirement to undertake specific college courses and or reach 10 CPD points per annum, may trigger removal from the ATF list.

· Remaining on the ATF list is also dependent on at least one training provider/college being prepared to work with you as an ATF.

Shortly you will be receiving two emails, one from Warwickshire College with links to Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity training and one from Myerscough College with a link to Prevent training. The emails will be sent to all ATFs who have Apprentices at Hereford, Myerscough and Warwick as well as ATFs who do not currently have an Apprentice.

Please note that the deadline for completion of the online training is:

Tuesday 31 May 2016

On behalf of the three colleges we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your co-operation in this training programme.

Kind Regards
