why is the frog called the frog?
why do you get coppery coloured deposits on the foot surface of old shoes and what is it?

I would think that the frog is so called because of its shape. If you look at it from the bulb of the heel and into the central sulcus, I suppose it looks a little like a frogs head without the eyes. With the shoes being discoloured on the foot surface, would this have anything to do with mineral deposits that work their way under the shoe after a certain period of time?
