--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All,

I have studied the article in the forge magazine, Equal opportunities, page 9, PROPOSED POLICY.

It seems the new FTA a private entity / enterprise, seek certain unique power over farrier craftsmen. The FTA's executive which were / still at present are senior members / employees of FRC / FTS, seek a continuance to use the disiplinary powers that FTS historically have had, the use of FRC disiplinary process. FTS presently use it to COMPLEMENT it's power as a form of SANCTION / PENALTY against employer craftsmen, which in itself aggrieves and seems overly oppressive.

It now appears that this PRIVATE ORGANISATION, the Farriery Training Agency, seeks / maybe EVEN has BEEN GIVEN THE POWER to use the full might of the FRC's disiplinary process to back itself up in employment DISPUTES / legislation matters. This form of back up / power historically distorts overview / gives a false impression of the FARRIERY TRAININGS efficiency. It makes a petty organisation appear super efficient, which may not be the case. [ An example, OK, a statement that in reality FTS cannot even organise itself to deliver it students to a college on a said date, [ quote ex horse mouth ]].

In the UK does the employee / its sponsoring bodies not have the full power / support of UK law on its side, to cite actions through the employment courts should employees rights be breached?? DO WE in future, as a craft allow an outside organisation FRA to use our registration disiplinary codes in this way??

Further questions for consideration.

WOULD IT NOT BE THE CORRECT WAY FOR THE FARRIER TRAINING AGENCY TO ENTER ANY DISIPLINARY ACTIONS AGAINST EMPLOYER FARRIERS ONLY FOLLOWING CIVILIAN TRIBUNERAL / COURT ACTION?? THE SAME WAY AS OTHER PRIVATE ORGANISATIONS DO AT PRESENT [ F/E RSPCA ]. THE OUTCOME TO BE JUDGED IN A INDIVIDUAL CASE BY CASE MANNER AS TO IF FURTHER CRAFT SANCTION IS IN FACT NECESSARY. EACH CASE BEING ASSESSED ON ITS OWN MERIT??.

DO THE CRAFT ALLOW THE FRC DISIPLINARY SYSTEM TO BE USED BY AN OUTSIDE ORGANISATION [FRA ] As AN EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNERAL??

My fear IS, by adoption by FRA of the sanctions under the FRC disiplinary codes, that minor breaches of employment regulations will get written into the CRAFTS disciplinary codes, and become an oppressive weapon for unique use against farrier employers.

DOES THE CRAFT NEED TO BE CONCERNED??

DO YOUR ELECTED MEMBERS NEED TO GIVE YOU SUPPORT??

PNB.

ANYBODY, Veterinary or horseshoers most urgent.

Peter its totally unacceptable for any other authority to conduct any form of disiplinary action without going through the f.r.c and if Mr h cooper and MWN are setting up there own club the trade must strongly oppose this action in the courts if necessary we must start a fighting fund, and a letter must be drawn up soon for me to approach LANTRA

Stuart,

I agree. Your informed insight goes a bit deeper than was my original thoughts on the subject.

It is vital that this particular element of The Horses Mouth gives a comprehensive overview of the crafts thoughts. Unless there are objections to CSC or PNB's observations, and to any other of the fields raised, this thread will be presented as a majority craft opinion. It should then carry considerable weight. Please lets hear some further thoughts.
